Two weeks of roadworks due to begin on border of Wigan and St Helens

Drivers are advised to use other routes as work gets under way on the A571 Wigan Road in Billinge on Monday.

It will be shut at its junction with B5206 Upholland Road for five days so the carriageway resurfacing work can be done.

The Wigan section between the St Helens boundary and Winstanley Road will be closed for two weeks from Monday.

Elsewhere, drivers will not be able to turn left from Thatto Heath Road onto Elephant Lane, Thatto Heath, from four days from May 26 while gas mains replacement work is carried out.

And on May 28, Rivington Road will be shut for a day at its junction with A570 Dentons Green Lane for patch repairs following electricity cable repair work.
