Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) will formally approve the changes at a committee meeting on Friday.

The decision to re-route the service has come after the 638 Wigan to Standish circular via Worthington, Bradley, was axed following a shake-up of the network.

People living in the area complained about the “negative impact” of having no bus service and called for it to return and a consultation into the decision, which was made to reduce the level of duplication in the area.

Now following a meeting with Standish councillors, TfGM have agreed to make the changes.

Welcoming the news, Coun Adam Marsh said: “Numerous residents have been in touch explaining how not having a bus service has been a nightmare for them, so it’s great news that Bradley and Worthington will now have a bus service again.

“It was also encouraging that TfGM acknowledged the need to properly engage with residents prior to the removal of a service, and I am hopeful we’ll see meaningful consultation in the future.”

A document set to be considered by TfGM said: “The existing services run hourly Monday to Saturday daytime.

“The first full journey is at 06.28 on Monday to Friday with an 08.20 journey from Shevington Moor on

Saturday.

“The last journey which runs as far as Shevington Moor is at 18.10 on Monday to Friday and 18.00 on Saturday.

“In response to concerns raised by local members, a revised route is proposed between Standish and Wigan with buses running via Bradley Lane, Platt Lane, and Chorley Road in order to reinstate a service to Worthington.

It added:“A service along Rectory Road in Standish will be maintained by the change to service 113.”
