The former Latics favourite tweeted that he had placed a bet on 5/1 "Chosen Mate", ridden by jockey Davy Russel, who is wearing the blue and white of Wigan.

This year's festival has taken place over four days from Tuesday March 10 to Friday, March 13.

Sharpe's time at the Latics ended at the end of 2018 following the takeover of the club by International Entertainment Corporation
