Walk-in centre re-opens after temporary closure over coronavirus fears

A walk-in centre has re-opened amid fears over the coronavirus which has swept around the globe.

Skelmersdale walk in centre was temporarily shut on Monday and Tuesday to enable a clean-up which has now been completed.

Commissioners said the move was a routine precautionary measure in line with national guidance on the coronavirus.

Jackie Moran, director of integration and transformation at NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “The walk-in centre in Skelmersdale was required to temporarily close to enable a clean of the centre as a routine precautionary measure in line with national guidance. The clean is now complete and the walk-in centre is reopen to patients.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused. Safety is our priority and we have been working with our providers Virgin Care and public health teams to make sure there is no risk to staff and patients.”

There are currently 11 towns in Italy on lockdown after seven people died from the virus and 229 others tested positive, with the lockdown focused on Northern Italy.
