Wigan Athletic announced as community club award winners for North West

Wigan Athletic will today be recognised as winners of the EFL Community Club of the Year Award for the North West region at the Houses of Parliament.

Chosen for the outstanding impact they have on the people within their communities, Latics are one of six regional winners selected for the programmes they deliver in a number of important areas, including diversity and inclusion, education and health and wellbeing.

The EFL Club Community Organisations (CCOs) are all considered to be worthy winners and to showcase the quality of delivery taking place across the country at EFL Clubs nationwide.

The EFL said the impact of the work is unparalleled and highlights the power of football as a force for good.

The 2020 regional winners for Community Club of the Year are:

North West – Wigan Athletic

North East & Yorkshire – Middlesbrough FC

Midlands – Derby County

London – Charlton Athletic

South East – Crawley Town

South West & Wales – Cardiff City

The six clubs will be honoured and will receive their awards at the House of Commons today.

The overall winner of the award will be announced at the EFL Awards on Sunday, April 19 in central London.
