Wigan company reveals ambitious expansion plans

A Wigan company which has been trading for almost a quarter of a century has lodged plans to expand its base.

The proposal, which has been submitted to Wigan Council by 8th Wonder director Gary Tyrer, is to provide an extension to a two-storey office building which is currently used by 22 staff.

Founded 23 years ago, the firm has moved around the Wigan district quite a few times before settling at its present address at the Sovereign Business Park in Wigan.

The business specialises in design and manufacture of character plush, nursery and gift products for a global market. It creates high quality wood and soft toys.

And 8th Wonder has formed partnerships with big-name retailers including Amazon, Wilko and Argos. Now the directors have found that the existing office space of 642m sq needs to be increased especially at the moment due to the present pandemic. While the current car park has twenty parking spaces.

The application said the plans aim to prevent the firm’s having to move in the future.

The extended space totals is 124m sq an increase of 19 per cent.
