WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Fresh appeal over ear bite attack

Lancashire police have launched a CCTV appeal after a man had part of his ear bitten off in Preston city centre.

The 25-year-old victim lost a large part of his ear and suffered broken teeth after he was attacked at around 4.15am on Saturday 27 June at the junction of Main Sprit Weind and Church Street between Fishers Pub and Bet Sid bookmakers.

The man was walking along Church Street when he stepped in to try and stop an argument. He was then punched twice to the face before he was bitten on his right ear before other members of the public intervened.

The man officers are keen to trace in connection with the incident is described as wearing a white shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

Detectives are also appealing for other members of the public who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident to come forward.

DC Justin Singleton of Preston CID said: “This was a nasty and vicious assault on a young man who has been left with a serious injury to his ear.

“We are keen to identify the man pictured in the white shirt in connection with this incident and I would urge him, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward.

“We also know that there were a number of people in the area at the time of the attack and we are particularly keen to talk any potential witnesses who may have seen what happened.”
