Woman, 22, abused ambulance staff

Lauren Jones, of no fixed address, appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was bound over to keep the peace.

Police officers were called to Avon Road in Marsh Green in February 24 and ambulance staff were already on the scene, the court heard.

Jones, 22, was found to be drunk, slurring her speech and was using offensive language. Officers asked her to calm down and then leave the premises.

Having left the property, she soon returned, shouting at the paramedics to “get away” from her mum in an expletive laden tirade.

When asked the explain her actions, she told the courtroom: “I can’t remember, it was because I was drunk.”

The presiding magistrate asked: “Can you understand what it was like for the ambulance staff (because of your actions)?

She replied: “Well, I was drunk.”

For the breach of the peace offence, Jones was bound over for £100 for 12 months, meaning any further breaches will result in an automatic fine.
