Popular Wigan chippy reopens during lockdown to the delight of its customers

A popular Wigan chippy has re-opened with social distancing measures in place as lockdown continues.

Pepper Lane Chippy in Standish has opened its doors this week, much to the delight of regulars.

The fish and chip shop has been open Tuesday and Wednesday and will be again today.

It then hopes to return to normal opening hours from next week.

Staff are also wearing face masks and screens and customers can pay in cash only at the moment.

In a post on Facebook, the chippy said: "Just a reminder we are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

"Opening times 11.30am to 2pm and 4pm to 7pm. Should be back to normal hours the week after.

"Social distancing will be in place, take care and be safe."

Customers are delighted by the news, with many taking to Facebook to express their excitement.

Karl Briggs wrote: "Just told the boys they are made up, we have missed you all."

Becci Radford added: "The other half caMe earlier and I’ve just finished my portion - amazing as usual! Thank you! "
