Nectar’s ‘Shopper Rewards’
The new loyalty scheme has yet to be formally announced, but a small number of Nectar members have been informed of the trial via email, MoneySavingExpert reports.
The scheme allows shoppers to earn up to 50 points for every pound spent at certain stores or websites, such as Nando’s, Costa Coffee and Airbnb. These points then add up to a ‘cash’ value which can then be used to make purchases.

How does the scheme work?
Nectar is yet to release full details of how the scheme will work - and when it may be rolled out nationally - but their introductory email did include some information on what customers can expect.

Hide AdShoppers will need to sign up for ‘Shoppers Rewards’ via the Nectar website (or by email if you received an invitation) and you need to already be a Nectar member to take part. You then have to link one or more credit or debit cards to your Nectar account, after which your data will be used to work out relevant offers to give you.
The Nectar website states that connecting your account will allow the company access to 36 months’ worth of your historical transaction data, which is done “via the open banking regulations”.
Once registered, you can then pick offers by logging into your account and earn points from them.

To earn bonus points, you simply need to spend on your bank card as normal and don’t need to show your Nectar card.
You can track how many points you’ve earned on the Nectar website, and see how much they are worth. Some of the offers included 50 points per £1 spent at Costa Coffee, and 20 points per £1 spent at Nando’s or on Just Eat.
