New research shows more than half the nation are planning to holiday in the UK this year, with four in 10 planning to visit famous parts of the country they have never seen before.
The top choices for a first time UK holiday destination include Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, Brighton beach, the Lake District and Padstow in Cornwall.

Hide AdAlso high on the list are the Yorkshire Dales, Jersey, Stonehenge and the Tower of London.
Thirty five per cent of respondents agreed there is no where more beautiful than Britain in the summer and 37 per cent confess they are looking forward to a British break, with many hoping to soak up history at the Roman Baths for the first time and to discover the history of Edinburgh Castle.
A third will be enjoying their first long walk in the Lake District and 32 percent plan to stroll through the town of Padstow.When asked why they plan to holiday in the UK this summer, 43 per cent of respondents admitted they feel safer staying on home turf .
