It was announced that Tiffani Thiessen (Alexa and Katie, White Collar) would reprise her role as Kelly Kapowski for one episode.

The series is headed by showrunner Tracey Wigfield, who is known as writer for the award winning comedy 30 Rock, as well as The Mindy Project.

What happens in the reboot?

The reboot will take viewers 30 years on from the events at California’s Bayside High, where local politician Zack Morris is forced to merge together two rival high schools thanks to a local government scandal.

Governor Morris faces backlash for closing too many low-income high schools, and decided to send lower-income students to the highest performing schools in the state.

At Bayside High, this merger inevitably creates a rift between the town’s richer and poorer teenagers.

Meanwhile, Zack’s old friend A.C. Slater is working as a gym teacher at the high school.

Is there a trailer?

The trailer opens up with Slater saying: “Do you remember how fun high school used to be?”

To which Jesse replies: “Can you believe that was like, 30 years ago?”

We see the new students at the school mingling - and some clashing.

In the trailer, Slater can be seen talking to two pupils who have clearly been in a fight.

“When I was in high school, I constantly used to fight with my best friend over a hot girl. That was actually your dad, over your mom,” Slater says, pointing to one sullen looking student - Mac Morris, son of Zack Morris.

He continues: “Then I’d just find another girl I really liked and I’d start hooking up with her instead. Oh wait, that was your mom,” pointing to the other student - Jamie Spano, Jesse’s son.

When can I watch it?

The series is planned to drop in the US on a new streaming service called Peacock, from NBC, later this year.

There has been no confirmed UK release date yet.
