The players - and coaching and medical staff - attended training following an initial period of COVID-19 testing last week, with no positive results returned from the initial period of testing.

Latics’ players have been monitored throughout the past two months by the club’s medical staff in terms of their health and wellbeing in relation to the virus and their physical fitness, with a number of sessions taking place via Zoom.

“The absolute priority is to ensure the safety of the players and staff at the training ground and I would like to thank the club doctor, medical staff and the operations staff who have ensured the environment is safe for us to return," said manager Paul Cook.

“The players have been working at home to keep their fitness levels up and now it will be a case of stepping that up to ensure they are ready for the potential return of competitive training and Championship fixtures.

“It was really good to be back with the lads and to take the next steps towards a potential return.”
