Caldwell looking to add to squad

Gary Caldwell has revealed he is looking to add '˜four or five' new players to his Wigan Athletic squad this summer.

The Scot was the busiest boss in world football this time last year, offloading virtually his entire playing roster and bringing in a virtually-new squad of his own.

However, after seeing Latics win promotion as League One champions this term, Caldwell does not envisage being anywhere near as active in the transfer market this summer.

“We’re probably looking at bringing in four or five new players,” Caldwell told the Evening Post.

“Although that will also depend on how many players will be going.

“I think when you’re successful, other clubs start to look at your players, and we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

“At this time we haven’t had any interest in any of our players, but I am expecting that will come because when the players do as well as they did last year, other clubs are going to start looking.”
