The Addicks required a stoppage time equaliser to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against the Latics at the Valley in a crucial relegation encounter.

But Pearce was left to rue two big decision he felt should have gone his team's way which could have proved pivotal in the final reckoning.

Certainly in the first half, Charlton had a case for a spot-kick when Nathan Byrne appeared to foul Macauley Bonne inside the penalty area.

"It was frustrating," said Pearce. "When you don't get these decisions, you feel like the luck is against you.

"When you don't get those decisions then it does become frustrating, but I think it's credit to the boys that we managed to get something out of it."

Pearce felt he and his team-mates were the better team over the 90 minutes and a point was the least that they deserved.

"It was a tough game," he said. "We knew that with them coming off the back of a 8-0 win, they were going to be a tough proposition and we needed to be at it.

"I thought we conceded two really poor goals from our point of view.

"But I think if the fans watch us from home, they will have seen us fighting and it could prove to be a huge point for us, a massive point.

"It's kept us out of the relegation zone going into the last game of the season and that gives us a boost. against Leeds next week.

"We got a draw against Wigan but I thought we probably deserved to win the game."

Meanwhile, Charlton boss Lee Bowyer had mixed emotions after watching his team draw 2-2 with the Latics.

He was disappointed with the two goals conceded but delighted that his men continued to battle, scoring a stoppage time equaliser to earn a point.

That goal gives them a chance of staying up on the final day of the season when they face champions Leeds United at Elland Road.

“Two sloppy goals that we gave away but that can happen in this division,” said Bowyer.

“That’s the difference. They went bang bang. They had chance, chance, goal, goal.

“But I’m over the moon. We showed character and fight to grind out that result.

“Mixed emotions. Happy, it’s a good point. I think it’s the least we deserved. But at the same time, I’m disappointed.

"Again, we were the better side, again we created better chances, more chances. And again, the officials, I think, have not been brave enough for us.

“If you think of the penalties that have gone against us of late, are you telling me that we shouldn’t have had one. I’ve looked at both challenges on Macca – the first one is a penalty and the second one is not. Another big decision that has gone against us.

“Overall, I’m pleased that we kept going and fought to the end and got a well-deserved point. That was the least we deserved.”
