Having gone into the midweek trip to MK Dons without four first-team regulars, Sheridan saw forward Will Keane (groin) and utility man Gavin Massey (quad) limp off.

Defender Curtis Tilt was also subbed midway through the second period.

While ‘Mr Versatile’ Kal Naismith and defender Darnell Johnson are hopeful of returning tomorrow, midfielder Lee Evans will be out for ‘a few weeks’ with a knee problem.

And the news is even worse concerning winger Viv Solomon-Otabor, whose ankle injury has been described as ‘serious’ by Sheridan.

“It’s disappointing,” acknowledged the Latics boss.

“And we’ve picked up a lot of injuries lately which have disrupted us.

“We’ve had several important players missing and I’m trying not to make excuses.

"We’d love to bring players in, but it is difficult at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Latics’ FA Cup first-round tie against Chorley at the DW Stadium has been confirmed for Sunday, November 8 (12.45pm) and will be shown via the BBC’s iPlayer.
