Former CEO Jonathan Jackson severs official ties with Wigan Athletic

Former chief executive Jonathan Jackson is no longer a director of Wigan Athletic.

Papers lodged with the government's Companies House today confirm the 'termination of director appointment' of Jackson.

It follows the exit of two other directors, Joe and Darren Royle, since the club went into administration last July.

His departure does not signify any major development but rather part of the normal procedure - if Wigan Athletic is bought a new company would be formed and the old one dissolved.

But even so, it ends a long association of the Jackson family with the club.

He had been CEO for the last 10 years, and his dad, Stan, was appointed a director in 1974 and was later president of Wigan Athletic, having been instrumental in bringing Dave Whelan to the club.

Jackson was made redundant from his post as CEO last July when the club went into administration, but still helped out in the transition period.

He spoke at the time of being 'devastated' that he was powerless to prevent the saga, describing it as "the worst week in the club’s history."
