Paul Cook’s men returned to the Championship at the first attempt with 98 points as they saw off the threat of Blackburn.

The Latics boss also guided his side to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, a run which included that memorable win over Manchester City at the DW Stadium.

There is also the small matter of a proposed takeover from the Hong Kong-based consortium International Entertainment Corporation.
