How £500,000 can secure future of a "different but sustainable" Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic would be allowed to start the new season if fans can raise £500,000, believes Jonathan Jackson.

The former Latics chief executive is involved with the supporters club-led drive to secure the club's future.

Explaining the cash target, he said: "We have to prove to the EFL that if we have to, we can operate the club going forward.

"The money will go towards the future funding of the club. It'll look a different club to the one we've known, we have to be realistic about that. It'll be sustainable.

"We have to make sure it's here for our children and grandchildren, just as it was for our parents and grandparents."
