John Sheridan's exit from Wigan Athletic confirmed

Leam Richardson and Gregor Rioch are set to take charge of Wigan Athletic in the short-term following John Sheridan's exit.

John Sheridan stepped down on Wednesday night

The manager's departure to join Swindon Town, widely expected, has been confirmed today.

As predicted in Wigantoday, Latics won't be bringing in an outsider to replace him, with Richardson and Rioch stepping up to take charge.

Dean Watson, on behalf of the joint administrators, said: “We would like to place on record our thanks to John for his efforts during the last two months and wish him well in his future career.”

Sheridan, 56, joined Latics in September on a short-term contract and took charge of 15 first team matches.
