The Hungary international only moved to Anfield last summer from Bolton, but is being allowed to leave after slipping down the pecking order.

Latics are in the market for a new goalkeeper, to provide competition at first-team level for Jussi Jaaskelainen and Lee Nicholls, with summer signing Dan Lavercombe set for a role with the Development Squad.

A season-long loan is believed to be on the table for the 28-year-old, and it’s understood the player is undertaking a medical at Wigan ahead of putting pen to paper.

Bogdan wasn’t in the Liverpool squad for Sunday’s 2-0 friendly victory at the DW, although Latics boss Gary Caldwell did take the opportunity to speak with Jurgen Klopp about the possibility of taking some of his players - including Bogdan - on loan.

With No.1 Simon Mignolet due back after his extended break following the European Championships, Bogdan wasn’t going to be part of Liverpool’s tour of the USA, which kicks-off later this week.

And he could even be part of the Latics squad for Wednesday night’s pre-season friendly at Macclesfield if a deal is done in time.
