Latics guest columnist Adam Bogdan says determination will pay dividends

I feel a point was the minimum we deserved from the midweek game at Leeds.

We were brilliant on the night, we dominated most areas of the game, we had more possession.

Crucially, they managed to score an early goal, and we had to dig really deep to get it back.

I think it underlines the positive mindset we have here, that we always keep going until the end.

We’re unbeaten in four games now and, although it would have been better to be picking up three points, equalising in stoppage-time leaves a good taste in the mouth.

I feel we’ve been defending pretty well in recent weeks, picking up a few clean sheets.

That’s full credit to the whole team, because I haven’t really had anything to do in those matches.

Obviously you have to make a save every now and then, but that’s my job and it’s nice to be able to do that.

I’m sure anyone who’s been watching our games will see we’ve been playing well.

Even if you lose a game, you can see the effort, and I feel the league position is a little bit false.

We have been really consistent in recent weeks, and we have to keep that consistency going as long as we can.

If we can keep our stable level of performance, and maybe add to it in some areas, that would be ideal.

As the goalkeeper, it’s part of my job to help to organise the defence, and I like to do that.

Getting a settled defence gives you a solid base from which to work, and that’s what we’ve tried to get.

I’m not someone who is naturally loud in a one-on-one situation, or if you met me in the street.

But I know it’s part of the job, and goalkeepers have to do that to keep the defenders alert.

Obviously the more we play together, the better that understanding will become, and that’s what we’re aiming for.

It takes time to get to know the strengths of your defenders - when to play it to them, when not to play it to them.

The way we play, we try to be very sophisticated and try to bring the ball out rather than just play it long.

And I feel like it’s getting better and better with every week.

Results are maybe not showing that so much, but I think it will come over time, we just have to keep the faith.

Next up for us is a home game against a very good Brighton side this weekend.

But we know our strengths, we know our work ethic, and we are very confident we can win the game.
