With supporters not allowed in football stadiums and music gigs put on hold for the foreseeable, the Latics 'Live Lounge', between 12.00pm-1.00pm, will be the next best thing.

Hosted on the club's YouTube channel and available across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, fans will be treated to acoustic sets from Stanleys, Lottery Winners, Pink Shirts for Pale People, the Lilacs, The Facades, Flechettes and Garden Party.

In doing so, the club is continuing to work with local talent, following the introduction of the popular 'Match Day Wrapped' initiative introduced earlier this, whereby local music was played at half time of Championship fixtures at the DW Stadium and replicated in an online playlist through Spotify.

Liam Horrocks, lead singer of Garden Party, who helped to organise the event, said: "It’s a real privilege to have been asked to play.

"As a Latics supporter it’s a dream come true to work with the club on a project like this.

"During the Covid-19 pandemic it has been a struggle for musicians, often there's been a complete lack of opportunities.

"So to host an online festival-style event with Latics is a great opportunity and one that we’re all grateful for.

"The stream is helping to raise money for Wigan Athletic Community Trust, who have been doing amazing work during lockdown.

"I know they’ve been ringing some of our elderly fans just for a chat to make sure they’re okay which is amazing of the club to do.

"This Saturday, before the first home match of the last few games, is a perfect chance to support our local community and local music.

"And I know I speak for all of the bands when I say I couldn't be more excited for this."

Head of Community at Wigan Athletic, Tom Flower, said: "We're really happy to be offered support from the local music scene, and Latics 'Live Lounge' is going to be the perfect opportunity for supporters to enjoy some much-needed entertainment during a difficult time for all.

"We recognise that, during the current challenges society faces, we have as important a role as we ever have in ensuring we work with our partners to help our community and those most in need of support.

"We've had to adapt as an organisation during this period, but the support throughout the local community has helped to form strong bonds and continue to make stronger, safer communities."
