Two goals in the space of four minutes at the beginning of the second half saw Wigan Athletic crash to a deserved defeat at MK Dons.

Latics, who lost Will Keane to injury in the opening skirmishes, were fortunate to reach the break on level terms.

Twice they were indebted to goalkeeper Jamie Jones for pulling off great saves to deny Scott Fraser.

However, their luck ran out within three minutes of the restart when Tom James fouled Matthew Sorinola in the box, and Fraser scored from the spot.

And in the blink of an eye it was 2-0, when Stephen Walker was given too much time and space to find the bottom corner of the net.

Latics struggled to mount an effort on goal worthy of the name, and now lie just a point clear of the League One relegation zone.
