One 'new' Wigan Athletic bidder provides proof of funds

The battle to buy Wigan Athletic has seen a fresh bidder coming forward and providing proof of funds for a possible takeover.

In the now-regular Friday update, the admins confirmed there is still no exclusivity period for any of the bidders.

But, intriguingly, they admitted this may soon change 'as matter progress'.

"Since last week a new bidder has provided the necessary Proof of Funds and we are now dealing with 5 parties that have provided Proof of Funds," a statement read.

"None of the prospective bidders have withdrawn from the process.

"Where the bidders have supplied us with the necessary background information, we have forwarded this to the EFL.

"At the moment no bidder has been granted exclusivity.

"We will consider the granting of exclusivity as matters progress.
