It was almost 2-0 to the visitors shortly after when Lang raced clean through, only to see his shot saved by the legs of the goalkeeper.
The rebound rolled out to Solomon-Otabor, who fired just over the top from 15 yards.
Latics had a scare when Welsh starlet Luke Jephcott rifled against the crossbar.

First, Tilt deflected a cross onto his own post, before clearing the rebound from Niall Ennis off his own line.
Jamie Jones made a great save from ex-Wigan midfielder Lewis Macleod, before Ennis following up somehow missed an open goal.
Latics were more than riding their luck at the point, but crucially doubled their advantage on 32 minutes in devastating fashion.

And Plymouth knew it wasn't to be their night when substitute Adam Lewis curled a free-kick round the wall in the closing stages - but against the outside of the post.
