REPORT: Peterborough 2 Wigan Athletic 1

Wigan Athletic once again surrendered a precious lead to come away with nothing, with League One leaders Peterborough notching twice in the last eight minutes to take the spoils.

Latics almost took the lead midway through the first half, when Dan Gardner's whipped ball into the middle was flicked on by a home defender, before Joe Dodoo steered the ball against the post from point-blank range.

Then, from a scramble in the Peterborough box, Gavin Massey - making his first start in three months - smashed his shot against the goalkeeper, who was off his line in a flash.

Peterborough started the second half brightly, and Siriki Dembele's shot was tipped over by Jamie Jones at the expense of a corner.

But back came Latics, with Callum Lang and Viv Solomon-Otabor warming the hands of Posh goalkeeper Christy Pym.

Gardner then crossed from the left and, after Lang fed it back in, right-back Tendayi Darikwa forced a good save from the goalie.

That was Gardner's last involvement, before making way for young Thelo Aasgaard.

And the Norway junior international made his presence felt within seconds, sending over a left-wing corner that deceived Pym in the air and dropped into the far corner of the net.

With 18 minutes to go, Latics were looking at moving out of the relegation zone for the first time in four months - but were unable once again to hold on to a lead.

The home side equalised 10 minutes later, when Jonson Clarke-Harris - who scored the only goal of the corresponding fixture at the DW back in October - headed home at the far post.

Then, three minutes later, Darikwa was adjudged to have brought down Dembele in the box, and Clarke-Harris converted the spot-kick to send Latics home with nothing.

Leam Richardson made a beeline for the officials at the end to vent his anger, but Latics remain only one point adrift of safety - with 15 matches still to be played.
