Championship Tweets of the Weekend

Show new updates

Nottingham Forest 3-1 Huddersfield Town

Nottingham Forest resumed their push for the play-offs by brushing aside the hapless Terriers. This stat on Forest’s manager is really quite something!

Barnsley 0-0 Millwall

A dismal game of football at Oakwell was somewhat redeemed by this excellent spot from Chris Kamara. Cutting edge technology, this.

Leeds United 3-0 Fulham

The Whites charged three points clear at the top of the table after putting Fulham to the sword at Elland Road. Defender Ben White had the unenviable challenge of keeping the Cottagers’ potent attacker at bay, but rose to it with aplomb - as nicely summarised in the below tweet.

Bristol City 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls’ encouraging start to the resumed campaign continued at Ashton Gate, as they bagged three points against the play-off hopefuls. Connor Wickham powered in a terrific header to give his side the lead, with a little help from some rather pedestrian opposition defending.

QPR’s mini 30-mile round-trip away day ended in disaster, as Lee Bowyer’s side sprung a surprise and upset their London rivals. Fans of the Hoops weren’t too thrilled with their second loss on the bounce.

Preston North End 1-3 Cardiff City

A crunch clash in the play-off race saw the Lilywhites collapse late on and the Bluebirds claim a massive win in the race for Premier League football. This fan had a positive take on the situation, and claimed dropping behind Cardiff could even work in their favour…

Swansea City 0-1 Luton Town

The Hatters continued their bright start under reappointed boss Nathan Jones, and pulled off a real shock against the Swans. This stat shows just how dramatic their turn in form has been in their last few games.

Derby County 2-1 Reading

The Rams are back in with a shout of making the play-offs, after clocking up their fourth consecutive Championship victory with a win over the Royals.  This fan had quite the day to remember when the result saw their acca come in!

Birmingham City 3-3 Hull City

There’s never a dull day to be had as a Hull City, it’s probably fair to say.  A ding-dong battle at St Andrews saw the Tigers race into a two-goal lead, before throwing it all away in the second half and having to settle for a draw.  Stuart here hit the nail on the head…

Stoke City 0-2 Middlesbrough

Neil Warnock made his managerial return in style, kicking his Boro reign off with a vital 2-0 win over the Potters. Lovely Simpsons reference for the Middlesbrough media team here, who have immortalised Dejan Stojanovic rather *ahem* delicate save for generations to come.
