It’s more than six months since the club was placed into administration by its former owners, and more than nine weeks since the Spanish bidders had an offer accepted by Begbies Traynor.

The EFL continues to assess the validity of that bid, which the Supporters Club felt ‘unable to move forward (with) at this time’ – while pledging to ‘remain open to continuing our dialogue with bidders’.

While rival bidders – including one involving Darren Royle and Ray Ranson – wait for their chance to pounce, the fans group remain open to all parties and local stakeholders to find the best possible outcome for the stricken club.

“We’re all working together for the same purpose,” said a spokesperson for the Supporters Club.

“There’s no local stakeholders doing their own thing, going out on a limb, trying to be different.

“Nobody’s stopping anything happening. But at the moment it’s still difficult for us to say much about it.

“There have been times we’ve wanted to come out and say something, but thought it might make things worse.

"Ultimately, our purpose is to ensure security for the football club, and we’re working hard on a daily basis to make that happen.”
