The football authorities on Friday morning took the unprecedented move to suspend all professional matches for a three-week period in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

That means this weekend's trip to Huddersfield, and the home games against Blackburn (Wednesday, March 18) and Stoke (Saturday, March 21) will be affected.

And the club will take until Monday to come up with a plan moving forwards.

"We will assess the implications of these postponements, and communicate with supporters at the appropriate time and when we have more clarity with regards to subjects such as ticketing, rearrangements of fixtures and future events," a Latics statement confirmed.

"Pre-purchased individual match tickets for the matches with Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City will be eligible for the respective rearranged fixtures or be refunded on request.

"However, please give us time to put measures in place to facilitate any refunds before contacting the Ticket Office.

"We expect we will have further communication on how to claim a refund by next Tuesday (March 17).

"Please avoid contacting the Ticket Office until we provide instruction as the staff will be unable to facilitate your refund.

"The health and well-being of everyone is of paramount importance and anybody reporting symptoms of a persistent dry cough, breathing difficulties or fever must, in accordance with government guidance, self-isolate for a minimum of seven days.

"This is of course a situation that is continually developing and we will endeavour to inform staff and supporters of developments as appropriate.

"Thank you and stay safe."
