Former Wigan Athletic star Michael Brown has expressed his outrage at the sequence of events that's seen his old club placed into administration with its very future up in the air.

Despite being the Championship's form side - eight points ahead of the drop zone with six matches to play - Latics face a 12-point deduction which would see them sink to last place.

But that could be the tip of the iceberg, with no guarantee a buyer is out there during the most testing financial situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

And Brown has been left with question after question following a whirlwind day at the DW.

“You can speculate that money hasn’t been forthcoming from foreign owners," he said on Wednesday night's Quest highlights show.

"It’s come right in the middle of lockdown so you can’t say there’s been financial hardship for the club.

“And who are the owners? One director’s gone from the main company into a new co-company that’s been setup.

"Who are the group? We are finding it difficult to find out anything about it.

“It’s a difficult one, we’ve seen Dave Whelan look after that club for such a long time, he’s now coming out saying about where he would try and help if he could and how he left the club in a good place.”
