Wigan are edging towards Championship safety

Wigan Athletic have moved five points clear of the Championship relegation zone thanks to the 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.

The Latics remain in 17th spot but have put further daylight between themselves and the bottom three.

It has certainly been a fine start to Project Restart with Paul Cook’s men registering two wins out of two, four goals scored and none conceded.

Middlesbrough moved out of the bottom three, new manager Neil Warnock inspiring the Teesiders to a 2-0 win at Stoke to leapfrog abover the Potters into 19th spot.

Hull are also out of the bottom three after drawing 3-3 away at Birmingham City.

Charlton are a place behind Wigan thanks to a 1-0 win at home to QPR and bottom two clubs Barnsley and Luton are still fighting.

The Hatters were 1-0 winners at Swansea, while Barnsley drew 0-0 at home to Millwall.

Huddersfield dropped into the danger zone, but they play on Sunday at Nottingham Forest
