Wigan Athletic slipped back to the bottom of League One after extending their winless sequence to 12 matches with a goalless draw against Bristol Rovers.

In a game of few real chances, Latics came close in the first half when Thelo Aasgaard was inches away from applying a finishing touch to Tom Pearce's left-wing cross.

The home side were also screaming for a penalty when a high boot appeared to catch Chris Merrie inside the box, only for the official to wave play on.

But Latics were desperately lucky to pick up only a second clean sheet of the season, when a mix-up at the back saw Curtis Tilt twice clear the ball off his own line from Sam Nicholson.
