Wigan Athletic admins cease 'weekly updates'

In their shortest update to date, the admins were unable to shed any more light on the process, which fans hope is nearing a successful conclusion after almost EIGHT MONTHS of agony.

"The sale of the club is ongoing and at this stage we are unable to provide any further specific details other than we are continuing to liaise with several interested parties," read the statement.

"Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the sale process we are unable to provide any detailed information within our updates such as the identity of the purchasers.

"As a result, we are ceasing the weekly updates and will make announcements on the Club’s website when appropriate to do so.

"We will continue to liaise with the EFL and the Official Supporters Club."
