Leam Richardson insists Tuesday night’s bottom-of-the-table clash at Burton will take on no added significance for Wigan Athletic.

Second-bottom Latics have a three-point buffer over the Brewers – with a game in hand – and could climb out of the drop zone with victory.

Richardson, though, says the mindset and mantra will be exactly the same as every other game.

“It won’t be any different to any of the other challenges we’ve faced this season – and it’ll be exactly the same for them,” he said.

“You look at their squad, and I think the number of players they have with more than 14 appearances is in double figures.

“That’s obviously totally the other end of the spectrum to ourselves, where we’re struggling to have many with that number.

“So whatever they may lack in other areas, they’re certainly not lacking in terms of continuity and experience.

"And we’re under any illusions whatsoever about the size of the challenge facing us.

People might be tempted to look at the league table and say it’s a game we should be winning.

“But I don’t see it like that at all – I see it as another challenge for us, and another opportunity for the younger lads to give a good account of ourselves.

“All I want is for my players to be fearless and have the freedom to put in a performance which will hopefully get us three points.”

Kick-off is 6.30pm.
