Latics travel to the John Smith's Stadium for the first of the nine-game run-in that will decide their fate.

The Terriers are just one point and two places better off in the table than Latics, who are two points clear of the drop zone.

And Cowley is very wary of the opposition - who had been in top form before lockdown - and especially the Wales international striker.

"2020 hasn't been good for many people, but it's been good for Wigan for sure," he said.

"They've had some good results.

"We're expecting a 4-2-3-1, lots of overlap, very technical.

"Kieffer Moore is a real handful and they have two 6s (Sam Morsy and Joe Williams) who like to get on the ball but can also enforce the game."

That said, Cowley says the Terriers are in good shape after three months off.

"We've got a squad full of energy and enthusiasm," he added. "When you join a club mid-season like we did, you lose that pre-season period, so it's been good for us to have had that.

"We feel we're going into the Wigan game in a better place than maybe we would have done in March.

"We're in a good place as a group and now the aim is to get rewards for our hard work."
