Wigan Athletic facing double threat - Fulton

Jay Fulton admits the Easter weekend will provide a stern examination of Wigan Athletic's automatic promotion credentials.

The Good Friday visit of relegation-threatened Oldham is swiftly followed by an Easter Monday trip to play-off chasing Portsmouth.

And Fulton says the tests will be equally demanding.

“If you look at the table, there’s probably only a few teams who’ve got nothing to play for,” the on-loan Swansea midfielder recognised.

“Everyone else is either going for promotion, the play-offs, or trying to avoid relegation.

“Sometimes the opposition comes to try and get all three points, sometimes they seem to be happy with one.

“But it doesn’t change what we have to do – we need to focus on our job and that’s all we can control.”

Latics remain in pole position with two games in hand over leaders Shrewsbury, who are a point clear, but Blackburn – two off the summit – are also a threat.

“With Blackburn and Shrewsbury picking up points, you’ve just got to take it game by game,” Fulton added.

“There’s 10 games to go and we have to tick them off one by one.

“Ten more ticks and we win the league – that’s the way we look at it.”
