Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk admits Josh Windass would be a 'great asset' if his move from Wigan Athletic became permanent.

Windass, on loan with the Owls until the end of the season, is currently recovering from a thigh injury picked up a fortnight ago in training.

But Monk admits he's already thinking beyond that time scale for a player who scored two goals in four appearances before lockdown.

"We will have to see at that point...right now with Josh it is about him focusing on getting back to fitness," Monk said.

"We will have to see at the end of this period of games where we are at and what we can do.

"We will have those conversations possibly.

"I think very highly of Josh and I think he would be a great asset for ourselves.

"Those conversations will come further down the line if and when.

"Right now it is about focussing on the games."

On the injury, Monk added: "Josh is coming on very, very well.

"We are hopeful with him...he should be involved in another week to 10 days.

"He's a super fit lad so he should be back to be involved in possibly the last four matches.

"They are all important games for us so having that option for him coming back.

"He's a fit lad anyway so he won't lose too much on the fitness side of it.

"He is rehabbing well so we are looking to extend Josh as well."
