Wigan Athletic: How they rated v West Brom
Paul Kendrick runs the rule over the Wigan Athletic side that beat West Brom 1-0 and delivers his report card....which should make for pleasant reading!
Wigan Athletic (4-2-3-1)
Christian Walton: 6 Little to do thanks to the fantastic work of the guys in front of him.
Reece James: 8 - Regulation display from the front-runner for the player of the year award...didn’t put a foot wrong.
Chey Dunkley: 7 - Solid response to the Deepdale debacle two weeks ago, recovered well from an early error to stamp his authority.
Cedric Kipre: 7 - Another who put the Preston drubbing behind him, far more in keeping with his form this season.
Dan Burn: 7 - Thrust into the unfamiliar position of left-back for his first start of the year but showed up well at both ends.
Sam Morsy: 7 - Slotted back in after international commitments with minimum fuss as usual, kept things simple and got stuck in.
Lee Evans: 8 - Back in the side with Darron Gibson suspended and put down a firm marker for long-term inclusion with hugely-impressive display.
Nathan Byrne: 7 - First home start in somewhat unfamiliar territory in the front three but more than justified his inclusion by working his socks off.
Josh Windass: 9 - Best game for Latics so far, involved far more than he has been and stood up when it mattered to deliver the killer blow.
* Gary Roberts: 9 - Inclusion may have surprised some, judging by pre-match social media reaction, but was superb from first minute until his 90th-minute substitution. *
Nick Powell: 7 - Gave Latics a solid presence up top, subject to physical examination as usual but did his bit for the team in a thankless role in Grigg’s absence.
