The 28-year-old - who failed to score a single goal during his year with Latics, after arriving for £3million from FC Tours in 2014 - is now back in his homeland with Montpellier.

Having consistently scored goals in France throughout his career, he says Ligue 1 suits him better than here.

"In England, it is physical, it is a fight for 90 minutes," he told Instagram Live. "I played over there, I know how it is.

"When I arrived, they made me put on 4 or 5 kgs, I had enormous arms! I am already 84kg.

“They have a really physical culture...you push, you push, you push!

"But each league is different, you have to succeed in adapting."
