Wigan Athletic secure ex-Manchester United defender

Wigan Athletic have swooped for Plymouth centre-back Scott Wootton to bolster their defence for the rest of the campaign.

The 29-year-old's next league appearance will be his 200th at club level.

He came through the ranks at Manchester United, before moving on to Leeds.

Wootton helped Plymouth to win promotion to League One last year, and has made 16 appearances this season.
