Wigan Athletic will 'come and have a go at us' - Posh boss

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson is 'under no illusions how tough' Saturday's visit of Wigan Athletic will be.

Latics face a formidable test against the League One leaders, who have won their last five matches and boast both the joint best attack and second-best defence in the third tier.

Ferguson, though, says any hint of complacency will lead them to come a cropper against a side he says will fancy their chances of getting something.

“I’ve watched Wigan’s last two games and they were good,” Ferguson said.

“They were unlucky to lose to Lincoln before they secured a big win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

“They played very aggressively in both matches. They get the ball from front to back quickly, but then play some good stuff in the opposition half.

“I honestly think they will come and have a go at us. They have some good players and they have experienced players.

"I am under no illusions how tough this game will be. For us it’s all about keeping our standards high.

"They’ve been very good for the most part in the last few weeks and certainly our quality has started to show.

“We are in a good place right now, but no-one is getting carried away.

"We’re preparing properly for matches and we are working hard between games to make sure the players are ready physically and mentally for the next challenge.

“If we don’t play well, and we won’t in every game, we must be prepared to dig out a result. There must be no letting up and we will see where it takes us.”

Former Latics goalkeeper Dan Gyollai should be back on the Peterborough bench after a 10-day period of self-isolation.
