The Aspull-born ace became a worldwide hit in February when his rocket for Dundalk against Shamrock Rovers went viral.

And he's been recognised as one of the 11 nominations - alongside world stars such as Tottenham's Son Heung-Min and Atletico Madrid's Luis Suarez.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks with Latics, making his debut at Brentford off the bench in the last game of the 2014/15 campaign.

He scored his first goal against Fleetwood with a cracking volley early the following season before - after loan spells at Chesterfield, AFC Fylde and Ostersund - joining Dundalk last year.

The winner will be selected by an international jury comprising a panel of FIFA legends and by fans registered on FIFA's website.
