Grigg, now with Sunderland, says he's still in touch with some of his former colleagues, and is keeping his fingers crossed for a successful resolution - on and off the field.
"The news is obviously devastating for everyone involved," he said.

"I've still got a great relationship with players, staff and people who work at the stadium, who work their socks off and love the club with all their heart.
"I'm hopeful and confident it can be resolved, and they can find the right owner who can take the club forward to where it deserves to be.
"But for the moment, it's a really tough time for everyone involved."

Hide AdHaving only left the DW Stadium 18 months ago, Grigg has plenty of friends right in the middle of a nightmare scenario.
"I've spoken to a few of the players, and it's just the uncertainty of the situation," he added on talkSPORT.
"All they can do is try and concentrate on the games ahead, there's only four to go and that's all you want to be thinking about.
"Instead they're thinking about people's lives and livelihoods, and to be put in that position at this stage of the season is definitely not easy for them."

Hide AdGrigg also remains determined to make a success of it at Sunderland, who again failed to win promotion from League One.
“It’s been difficult,” he added. “I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m a fully-committed Sunderland player.
"I want to achieve what I ultimately came here to do.”
