The Championship was a tremendous success, showcasing elite-level competitors from across the world in a celebration of this historic combat sport.
Steeped in the rich history of worldwide combat sports, Wigan has long been recognised as the spiritual home of catch wrestling. The town’s wrestling tradition stretches back over a century, producing champions and legends who have helped shape the sport internationally.
The event's success would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the local council and councillors, who continue to champion Wigan's proud wrestling heritage.
Coun Chris Ready, who attended the evening, said: “What a fabulous event, putting Aspull and Wigan on the world map. Laura, Ron and I are proud of The Snake Pit in Aspull, and will continue to support this club. Their dedication to helping both local talent and international events is key to preserving Wigan's status as a powerhouse in the world of combat sports”.
