Adrian Lam looking at Wigan Warriors' wing options

Adrian Lam will today weigh up his options ahead of Friday’s Super League clash with Wakefield.

Dom Manfredi suffered a head injury in Saturday’s 36-4 Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Hull FC. He failed a head injury assessment at the game and was unable to take any further part – ruling him out of their upcoming match, too.

With Liam Marshall already sidelined by a season-ending knee injury, it leaves Joe Burgess as the only specialist winger in Lam’s squad for this weekend’s televised, behind closed doors match at Warrington.

He admits Jake Bibby and fellow centre Chris Hankinson may come into his reckoning – both have experience playing on the wing.

“We’ll have a look at it early in the week, but we’ve got options there,” said Lam.

The head coach could also switch Bevan French to the edge and restore Zak Hardaker to No.1, while he also has two young backs in his full-time squad – Umyla Hanley and Sam Halsall – if he chooses.

Friday's game at Wakefield is the first of three games in a nine-day period, with St Helens (Wednesday) and Leeds (Challenge Cup semi-final, Saturday) quickly following.
