Sean O'Loughlin will get the chance to bring down the curtain on his glorious career in the Super League Grand Final after Wigan eased their way past Hull 29-2 in the first semi-final at the DW Stadium.

The Warriors skipper was drafted in for only his seventh match of 2020 and he played his part as the Warriors secured a record-equalling 11th Grand Final appearance.

O'Loughlin, who turns 38 next Tuesday, will make his 459th appearance for his home-town club in next Friday's title decider at the KCOM Stadium against the winners of Friday's second semi-final between St Helens and Catalans Dragons.

Lam said: "They have a lot of trust in each other and to keep them to two points was the most pleasing part of the game. There was a lot of resilience, I felt that we weren't going to be broken.

I'm over the moon for the whole group, the fans, the players, the staff, as great as it was it was hard to celebrate without an atmosphere.

"It's been a long season with a lot of twists and turns and to stick together and feel like we've got it right at the end... I'm proud of everyone."

Jackson Hastings played a starring role after switching to hooker to cover for the absent Sam Powell. And Lam added: "I think he is a hooker, to be honest. But Man of Steel at No.7 last year... he's just the ultimate competitor and he was excited about playing there. And getting Harry Smith some time was good for his development."
