They produced a brutal display to blow away Hull FC and claim a 36-4 victory at Salford's AJ Bell Stadium.

The Warriors established a 26-0 lead by half-time with O'Loughlin pulling the strings in his first match since the season halted in March.

And Lam said: "He was outstanding, he gives us a completely different attacking style and he does it better than anyone in the world, I believe.

"Just having him there in the dressing room, you're a player looking round and you see Sean O'Loughlin ready to play, it can only boost them."

Ex-England captain O'Loughlin was due to return from a hamstring injury last week but withdrew as a precaution when a family member developed symptoms of Covid-19.

Asked whether the 37-year-old may play on next season, Lam smiled: "Apparently it'd be his double testimonial. He's not playing on at the moment but who knows? That's for the boss to decide on."

Their performance bristled with energy and came just a week after a similar, dominant display at Catalans in Super League.

"The last two weeks have been outstanding and it's driven by the players," continued Lam. "I told them how important it is for them to take ownership of these big games, once they're at the ground.

"I'm very excited to be in the semis. It's not the final, but it's an important one and we'll need to get our performance right against Leeds."

Winger Dom Manfredi will have a head injury assessment on Monday after leaving the action in the opening half. Lam reported no other fresh injuries ahead of their next match, against Wakefield on Friday. Their semi-final with Leeds will be on October 3, venue and kick-off to be confirmed.
