Adrian Lam's self-study during lockdown to become a better coach

Adrian Lam has been keeping busy to ensure he is a better coach when the season restarts.

The Wigan coach, who is also the Australia assistant, has used the lockdown to study and research different methods. Rules around the government’s furlough scheme prevent him from having any contact with his players, meaning he can’t put new techniques into practice.

But he is loading up on new ideas for when the players are able to return to training.

He said: “I’ve been doing a lot of reading and researching and watching documentaries, just looking at different methods of coaching.

“When it all happened I thought, ‘I don’t want to restart as exactly the same coach with the same knowledge'.

"If I can learn any one thing, understand different ways of motivating different individuals, then great.

"I’ve been training as well... and keeping busy in the garden!”
