Australian becomes latest Wigan Warriors old-boy to rock up at St Helens
Former Wigan Warriors half-back Jackson Hastings will be back in Super League next year after signing a one-year deal with St Helens.
The 29-year-old has spent the last four seasons back in the NRL with the Newcastle Knights and Wests Tigers, but has opted to return to the United Kingdom.

In his previous spell in England, Hastings played for both Wigan and Salford in losing Grand Finals against the Saints.
“I’m really excited," said Hastings. "I’ve got a young family now, my partner’s English, and it’ll be great for my daughter to meet that side of the family and experience the English culture that’s in my blood, too.
"I’m just buzzing to get over, settle my family, and be part of the Saints family. Certainly on the life side of things, I’ve been through a lot – big lessons.
"On the playing side of things, I think I’m coming back realising what I’m best at - organising, kicking well, getting the team around the park, and then taking chances when they come.
"I’m ready to put my best foot forward for this club. I’ve been on the wrong side of Saints history a couple of times, so I’m looking forward to joining the right side at such a great club.
"Every time I played Saints, it was a brilliant game. Everyone knows their role, is super fit, defensively intimidating, and always professional and well organised.” He won't need introducing to new Saints coach Paul Rowley, who was in charge during their time together at Salford.
“I know Rowls’ style of play, I had him at Salford when we made the Grand Final against Saints, so it’s a bit of a full-circle moment, to be honest," added the ex-Great Britain international.
"I think his style suits me – hard-working with a bit of flair. “I can’t wait to get over, meet everyone and get stuck into training ahead of what I’m sure will be a great year.
“I want to feel welcomed, and the best way I can earn that is by giving my all, on and off the field. I pride myself on being active in the community, so I want to immerse myself in St Helens to be accepted for who I am through my actions and effort. The goal next year is to be successful and lift trophies."
Head coach Rowley added: “I’m really pleased to welcome Jackson to the Saints.
“Having worked alongside him before, I know firsthand how much of a competitor he is. Like everybody at our club, his standards and expectations are extremely high.
"I am very confident we have added a fantastic and highly motivated player to this great group of players.”
Hastings won’t be the only Wigan old-boy in Saints colours next season.
Joe Shorrocks, who came through the Warriors Academy before leaving to join Rowley at Salford two years ago, recently penned a 12-month deal.
Shorrocks, who turns 26 next week, had spent the latter part of 2025 on loan at Leeds Rhinos.
